  • American Electric Power, Cook Nuclear Plant, Bridgman, MI: Interim Staffing Manager to manage all site exempt and craft recruiting and to develop/reengineer the HR work methods and processes

  • Carolina Power & Light (CP&L), Raleigh, NC:  Facilitated a project quality team consisting of four managers from corporate and three nuclear plants (Robinson, Harris, and Brunswick) to change an employee performance management process.  CP&L requested my participation in implementing the nuclear changes corporate wide.  Also, reengineered 2,000 exempt job descriptions (matrix format) for 7 major classifications

  • FirstEnergy & Tennessee Valley Authority: provided review process for INPO pending review

  • IES Utilities, Cedar Rapids, IA: Project manager for the IES transmission and distribution redesign/re-employment process in the review of internal and external applications, team interview; documentation selections/deselections.

  • Northeast Utilities, Millstone Nuclear Station, Waterford, CT: Project manager for the Millstone Nuclear Station recovery effort to restart three nuclear units.  Responsible for staffing, compensation, redesign of position descriptions, business partner shop floor consulting and counseling, and policy/procedure review.  Placed over 400 internal and external candidates

  • Northeast Utilities (NU) Berlin, CT (requested to return for 6 yrs): provided 3 recruiters, 1 comp analyst and ultimately the Site Interim Director of HR during a transition to Dominion Resources during a buy-out.  We managed a major recruitment process for +200 engineers/professionals for corporate nuclear, Millstone and ConnYankee nuclear plants.  Developed and implemented a team interview process and decision matrix.  Managed the development of a downsizing supervisor’s manual and decision matrix for employee outplacement selection.  Re-designed all position descriptions (one-page) and key position career development matrices plus included interview job competencies to go from hire to performance!

  • Dominion Resources, Richmond, VA: Project manager during the transition of Dominion Resources as site owner of Millstone Units #2 and #3; to provide HR services in the areas of Staffing/HR generalist positions including site HR Director.

  • PECO Energy, Philadelphia, PA: Project manager for the internal and external recruitment of entry-level through upper management for Power Delivery, Customer Service, and Marketing, and Sr Vice President Business units through.  Assisted in the implementation of a new resume tracking system

  • Public Svc Electric & Gas (PSE&G)-Salem Nuclear Plant, Hancocks Bridge, NJ: Project manager for the recruitment function for Nuclear Plant Shift Supervisors’ for Salem units 1 & 2 and other plant engineering personnel

Past Employment Experience

FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT (FPL)  4150 Flagler St., Miami, FL: The first U.S. Company to be awarded the Deming Prize for total quality management.  Outside of the USAF, this is only company I have worked for as an employee!!!!

  • Human Resources Manager, Juno Beach & Turkey Point Nuclear Plant: Reported to Site Vice President, Nuclear Division Facilitated a project quality team consisting of four managers from corporate and three nuclear plants (Robinson, Harris, and Brunswick) to change an employee performance management process.  CP&L requested my participation in implementing the nuclear changes corporate wide. 

  • Corporate College and Professional Recruitment Manager, Miami, FL: Responsible for all FPL exempt professional and college recruitment activities, employment advertising, and CO-OP program for engineering and computer science students.

  • Managed the FPL employment process for all engineers and other degreed applicants

  • Recruited and developed college relations of 33 universities in the Midwest and East

  • Managed a CO-OP program with 7 universities for 50 engineering and computer science

  • Established and chaired a working committee of electric utility recruitment managers through the Southern College Placement Association (SCPA)
